Waiting Room Faith

My son, who is completing High School at a local college, was having difficulty getting an appointment with his High School counselor.  His emails and phone calls were going unanswered.  Needing to register for the next quarter’s classes,  the deadline to file the necessary signed paperwork was fast approaching.  I advised him, even if he had to wait the entire day, to  wait outside his counselor’s office until he could been seen.  He just wanted to send another email.  After 10 days he decided to give it a try, so I dropped him off at the High School with plans to pick him up in 3 hours.  The office staff didn’t welcome his plan, so he gladly went to the neighboring coffee shop to wait for my return.  If he believed the plan would work, would he have given up so easily?  If he was desperate would he have given up so easily?  If he didn’t want to watch videos and enjoy a hot cup of coffee would he have given up so easily?

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.2

  • Faith places a demand on the promises of God.3
  • Faith doesn’t give up.4
  • The time to continue in faith is when there is no evidence of the things hoped for.5

Continuing in faith is like waiting in God’s office.  By faith, our presence in His office reminds him of his promises.  Faith waits patiently for the object of hope.6  As long as we continue in faith we remain in the presence of God.  Is there any better place to be?

My Prayer:  Lord, teach me to wait upon you.7  8  Thank you for the gift of faith and the opportunity to exercise it.  Teach me to love that I may wait patiently.9  10  Bless me with the peace that surpasses all understanding.11  Thank you for loving me; thank you for not giving me what I deserve but instead blessing me with what I don’t deserve.  You are so very good to me.  Amen.
